Hello Volunteers,

CVA Bathurst has some interesting activities coming up. The Bush Tucker walk at Gosling Creek looks good. Also later on in April a team will be going Out-Back of Burke for two weeks. I hope that you all had a great Christmas and New Year and all the staff at Conservation Volunteers would like to thank you for volunteering activities last year.

Lake Canobolas Bush Walk

Come and join Bill Josh on a walk through the Central Western Bush at Lake Canobolas. Bill has extensive knowledge of our bush and he is an experienced team leader with Conservation Volunteers. This is an activity of Orange’s Slow Summer. If you would like to join Bill, meet him at the Bathurst CVA office at 8am or the car park at Lake Canobolas at 9am.

Bush Tucker Walk – Gosling Reserve

As part of Orange’s Slow Food Summer, Bill Josh is leading a Bush Tucker walk at Gosling Creek. Come and learn what the Wiradjuri ate before European settlement. If you would like to join Bill meet him at the Bathurst CVA office at 8am or 9am at the Gosling reserve car park at 9am. You can contact Bill on 04 2836 6549 for further information.

Jacques Park – South Bathurst.

Come help the Bathurst Green Team of professional bush regenerators to improve Jacques Park. Meet at the CVA office at 8.30am or at Jacques Park at 9am.

Bathurst Wetlands, Rivers and Waterways

This is a two week project but you can be involved for just a day or two. The activities planned include plantings, walkway and weir construction and wetland rehabilitation.

Clean Up Australia Day – Hector Park, West Bathurst

Help clean up your environment by spending a day with family and friends, cleaning up Hector Park in West Bathurst. Meet at the rest stop and children’s playground, opposite the goal on the Orange Road.

Mount Canobolas

Mount Canobolas near Orange in the Central West of NSW is an extinct volcano 1,395m above sea level with spectacular 360° views from its summit of the surrounding countryside. Taking one of the walks offers opportunities to see a wide range of fauna - rosellas, cockatoos, parrots, lorikeets, grey kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, koalas and small possums....

Conservation Volunteers work to keep the area free of weeds and the walking tracks in good repair.

Dunn’s Swamp - Rylstone

NSW Dunns Swamp is a quiet waterway created by a weir on the Cudgegong River. Fine camping is available amongst pagoda rocks and the swimming, canoeing and birdwatching are excellent. A rock art site is part of the rich Wiradjuri heritage of the area and several walking tracks explore the swamp, forests and rock formations. While there CVA will be upgrading the walking tracks and helping with invasive weed control.

Make Sure That You Bring. a water bottle – strong work boots – long pants and sleeves – wet weather clothing (if raining) work gloves – wide brimmed hat – sunscreen. For a day project bring lunch and for a residential project a sleeping bag and personal toiletries.
