Greening BathurstWho is Greening Bathurst?

Greening Bathurst is made up of a group of community minded individuals from all walks of life who work collectively towards improving environmental outcomes for the city of Bathurst, with particular focus on vegetation management issues.

What do you do?

The group meets regularly to discuss vegetation management and related issues within the city of Bathurst. GB writes letters and lobby’s council. GB is a key member of the Bathurst Regional Council Vegetation Reference Group. GB has contributed significantly to the Draft Urban and Rural Strategy LEP planning documents for Bathurst. As well GB supports the on ground environmental works of groups such as Macquarie Rivercare, Boundary Road Landcare, The National Trust, Conservation Volunteers and local schools such as Kelso High School and All Saints’ College.

What are your aims?

Generally to make Bathurst a greener and more pleasant place to live for all residents through the adoption and implementation of a vegetation management plan for the city.

Some of our recent projects include:

  • Sponsoring tree plantings at the Kelso Community Centre
  • Sponsoring and judging of the Waterwise Garden Competition in the Bathurst Spring Garden Spectacular.
  • Sponsoring students studying Conservation & Land Management at the local TAFE.
  • Producing a “What to Grow in Bathurst” tree planting guide booklet for local gardeners.
  • Helping Kelso High School students purchase new ‘Streamwatch’ resources following the devastating fire at the school.
  • Sponsoring the Tony Mc Burney ‘Bathurst by Design - Creating Tomorrows Community’ forum to discuss local planning issues.
  • Sponsoring the “What is Woodland?” field day at the Brooke Moore Woodland.

What does being a member involve?

Members attend monthly meeting and contribute actively to letter writing, lobbying and on ground works.

How do I become a member?

Come along to a GB meeting. They are held at 5.00pm on the first Monday of the month at the Bathurst Business Advisory Centre in Russell Street, Bathurst. New members are always welcome to attend.
